Artist Statement
I am a multimedia creative who has been experimenting with abstraction for nearly 20 years, weaving narratives that connect to our shared reality. While known primarily for my work as a painter—crafting layers of action and reaction through bold line and form—my practice also embraces photography and the documentation of found objects as an ongoing exercise in observation.
Through symbolic storytelling, my art navigates the space between expansive worlds and the quiet, unexpected relationships found within the everyday. I draw inspiration from our connections to one another and our environment, meditating on the cycles of life and death to reflect on the deep histories and stories embedded in our immediate surroundings; it is my ongoing pursuit to interpret the human experience.
As a reflection of our ever-changing world, my studio practice transcends singular definitions. I invite viewers to interpret the work as a mirror to themselves—a philosophy of exploration and deep observation that forms the technical foundation of my community-engaged public art.
Light & Shadow
Through experimentation with light, this work explores the visible and invisible patterns and movement of photons as they bounce, leap, and pierce time and space.
Place | Purpose
Explorations of landscape and still life that document the changing world over time. The transformation of growth and decay are the subject of study from flora to fauna.
Micro X Macro
Using devices of magnification such as microscopes and telescopes, these artworks demonstrate the interactions of matter, from the monumental to the molecular.
Wander
Born from a daily practice of observation, this series explores the discarded and disregarded objects of my local neighborhood. By slowing down to document these found materials, this ongoing collection reveals the hidden stories, people, and history of a community in constant motion.
Field Notations
Field Notations: A Hypothesis on the Events of Mutually Assured Destruction explores the human impact of climate change on our planet. As a “letter to future-self”, these collages tell a story pondering the fate of our future descendants.
